BB Cream introduction

What is a BB Cream?

I asked that question over & over during the time that i started beauty blogging. I see it being reviewed every now & then & with people swearing that they got good results, i eventually became interested & decided to test it out for myself.

It stands for Blemish Balm Cream. BB Cream originated in Germany especially formulated for those who had undergone cosmetic surgery. Since Korea is known for its brilliant cosmetic surgeries, BB Cream came more popular there. It promises to soothe the skin while helping it recuperate from the surgery.

It's like a tinted moisturizer which provides better coverage. Aside from the coverage, you'll be getting a lot more like sun protection, pore-tightening, healing, whitening, moisturizing, anti-aging, & all of those good -ING ending words (every cream targets different areas,ok?).

Why, it sounds too good to be true?!
Yeah, it is...except for 1 major flaw...it only has LIMITED SHADES!

BB Creams are available in either just 1 or two shades from a specific brand. The reason for this is that BB Creams are formulated to adjust to your skin's tone. Though we have yet to wait for that to happen. Don't ask me about the scientific explanation of how it does, but it does. You apply it, wait for a couple of minutes before you go out (especially if the shade is way darker/lighter than your actual tone).

But it doesn't necessarily mean that it will magically adjust exactly to your tone, it will adjust just a shade or two, but not more than that. So if you are really pale or dark, you might have a hard time looking for the perfect shade for you. That's why hunting for the perfect BB Cream takes time, patience & money!

On the other hand, it doesn't also mean that it will work for everybody. In my case, i have tried using BB Creams & it just made my acne worse. Yup! it did...So imagine my disappointment. I thought that BB Cream is the answer to my prayers. I jumped from 1 BB Cream to another hoping to find the solution to my problems...but alas! my acne also jumped from worse to worst.

But don't be discouraged, i guess the BB Cream team decided to boycott me or something..LOL
I know a lot of people who swears by the power of BB Cream.

Have you tried BB Creams?
If so, what worked for you?

Hope you all have a great start for your week!

Jaa ne~!

Yes, I have a BB cream (mushroom) and I love it! It smells good and it matches my skin tone. It applies nicely and absorbs quite quickly. But if you need more coverage you definitely have to use a concealer/ powder.

you are right, BB cream is NOT for everyone, I know a lot who used BB cream which made their skin better..and I know a couple which gave them breakouts! :) It's a matter of trial and error and of course ..fate :) hehehe

I used up my fist BB cream - SkinFood Mushroom BB cream. I loved it. It matched my tone perfectly, covered pretty good, didn't make me break out.. So it was great except for the oil control. My Tzone would get oily after an hour or two :(.

Then I tried the DreamGirls (Skin79) BB balm, which sucked and soo... I finally ordered a small sample kit of Skin79 BB creams. They come in 5 shades, and they are about 11$ on ebay. So I'll test them out and hopefully at least one of them will be THE ONE. So I won't spend a fortune on the BB creams.
But so far I love BB creams, better than foundations, plus they didn't really clog my pores.

I have tried quite a number of brands too and maybe around 3 brands did not broke me out haha..you might want to try those that did not aggravate my skin condition:

Innisfree trouble care bb cream
BRTC perfect recover
Skinfood aloe bb cream
Etude house mineral base (not sure if this is a bb cream though)

hi, thiamere! I recommend you to try Maybelline BB Cream. I've tried Missha Perfect BB cream Cover and Elianto BB cream (the one with spf 45). The Maybelline one comes in only one shade but unlike the other two brands, it blends perfectly well with the skin. SO far, I have no breakouts and it's not oily on the skin. It stays on your face matte.

I haven't tried BB cream but I guess I understand why they basically only have two colors. Not many people will be dark and if they are, they're known for as a "peasant" or something close. Have you seen celebrities in Korea? They're all light skin, even if they're born with a darker tone, they get it bleach to get lighter skin... especially the girls. At least, I haven't seen any girls over there with a darker shade than the average light yellow skin color that almost all Asians have.

i love my Innisfree Mineral Skin BB Cream spf40,pa++ ---didn't break me out and oil control is okay compared to other bb creams. i gave my sister and a friend (both acne prone) Innisfree's Trouble Care BB cream and they love it...

but should i finish the tube, which will probably be until next year, haha, i'll get myself Hanskin or SooRyeHan...

Question. I'm using Missha BB cream, and am very happy with it. But I have oily skin, and this cream is too oily for the summer. Which BB cream do you recommend for oily skin? I need a variety of colors as I use lighter shade and darker shade depending on the season. I like the coverage and colors of Missha BB. Please let me know. Thank you.

hi,sweetie
unfortunately bb cream doesn't work for me so i have limited brands that i have tried. based on what i can remember missha provides medium coverage,i think...
if that's the case you might want to try the one from skin 79. i have tried it & it seems nice (when it comes to coverage).you can try buying the set that has the mini ones. or you can search out ebay if they have mini/sample sizes because it would be such a shame buying a full size if it won't work for you.
or maybe you can also ask samples from stores that sells bb creams like etude house, the face shop & tony moly. i know that they hand out free samples for each purchase.

Believe in B.liv's Dump Off Drawn! I do!

I was contacted by B.liv weeks ago to try out their products. I have been so lazy in applying any skin care products lately that I can alrea...
