BFF Challenge:Cath Kidston

We're down to the 2nd to the last BFF Challenge.
This is Sally's week & i love her chosen themes! Cath Kidston & Flowers!
Cath Kidston for now...

I do not really know who or what is Cath Kidston so i did some googling & when i found out about it. I fell in love! It screams girly & you all know i love girly prints!

So, here's my version of a CK nail art~

You have to check out Cath Kidston to know what i'm talking about!
It just screams homey & cuteness!
hahaha

This is an easy nail art, except for the thumb but the polka dots & that flower bud is easy.
Again, i promise to make a tutorial for it once my camera is up for it.
Just a couple more & i'll be able to send it to the service center. I'll be without a camera for a while but i guess it's ok.hehe

A close up look of them...
The thumb~

 I love this design!
I'll make a tutorial on how i did the rose sometime.
Then the rest of the nails~

What do you think?
Kawaii,ne?
I got lots of compliments about my nail today! I'm just grateful that no one insisted that these are stickers or else i will be slapping their faces..LOL!

BFF Challenge:80's nail art

80's nail art chosen by Bec...
whoo hoo!
I haven't done retro, well, except if you'll count my retro dots (which i don't!) so this theme is also challenging as well.

I had spent lots of hours researching what designs i could do but for some reason i can't find any. So i wracked my brains up thinking of 80's related stuff. The things that kept on popping on my mind were Madonna, Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Chaka Khan, etc...
Then i remember that people love disco-ing (is that a word?) to these tunes so it's disco fever days!

Hence i came up with disco balls!

This is an easy nail art but i have to say that it takes a lot of work!
You have to perfectly line the glitters to make sure that they will look like a disco ball.

But this is a very fun nail art!

See?
Look at my thumb & pinkie!
Love holo glitters!

Oh, if you're planning to do this nail art, i used hexagon-shaped glitters. Start at the center,ok? So that everything is all lined up nice & even~

I did it. You can do it too!

It takes a while to finish but believe me when i say that the outcome is ridiculously beautiful!
Pop in your hot pants, fluff out your hair then strut your stuff!
*Kylie Minogue's Lucky playing in the background*
Now time to party!

Hope you all are having a great day!

BFF Challenge:Girly Nail Art for short nails~

Another nail art for this week from the group challenge.
This theme is something that is very dear to my heart. If you have been following my nail art posts for quite a while you might notice that most of my designs are leaning towards it being girly... mostly pinks, flowers & dots.

I have been prepping up for this theme for a few days now. The main design that i wanted to do is just so difficult for me to hand paint for now. I needed more practice to be able to do it but i will definitely do that design one of these days.

Going back, here are the nail arts that i've done for the girly design~
First one is this...
I rather like this one and yes,i did it with my short nails! I've had lot of people asking me what nail arts can be done with short nails. Every design can be done with short nails,of course!

Here's a close-up look of them one by one...

The design is easy except for the rose,ne?

Hand painted by yours truly

You can do this too! Check the links below for the tutorial.

This is something easy yet adorable!

Too bad the color is washed out but these are laces...hehe

I don't think i need to do a tutorial for this anymore since i've done most of the design.
You can click HERE to see my post about how to do the rose.
You can click HERE to see my post about how to do the heart.
You can click HERE to see my post about how to do the lace.

You can do the dots yourselves,ne?
Hope that you could sport at least one of the designs that i did here.

One more that i forgot to add...
I'll teach you how to make the lace some other time when i can take macro shots once more..hehe

Then another girly design that i did when i still had my faux nails on. This was done a week ago i think...
Just something to jumpstart my girly-ness. hehe

Next BFF Nail Art Challenge would be next Thursday & it;s gonna be a striping tape mani.
I promise that there would be a tutorial by then for you all.

You can check out these ladies doing the same challenge with me:

I hope that you'll have a happy Saturday!

My Easter Nail Art

I just want to greet you all a Happy Easter & also share my easter mani.

This is not really a nail art tutorial though.. hehe
Making this is not that difficult, except for the the roses. That's the only one that took me long to make it but other than that, i'm sure you'll be able to make this one by yourself,ne?

What do you think?
Should i have just painted easter eggs instead?

Have a happy Sunday,ladies!

Weekend Nails:Freehand lace design

Another nail art tutorial...
You know that i don't get to post much so i hope that this would be the start of my blogging streak again.

This is not a sticker so you can also don a lace design even if you can't find a lace sticker like the one that i have.

This is not really that difficult.
Though i have to say that making the half-circles are a bit of a challenge but with steady hands & a good liner brush you'll be able to make this design.

Let's start with the tutorial...

Materials needed:
  • black & white polish/acrylic
  • liner brush
  • dotting tools (you'll need the big & tiny one)
  1. Make 2 slanted lines to act as a guide on where you'll be filling it with the white color.
  2. Fill the top & bottom part with white, leave the middle part blank.
  3. Using a liner brush make tiny half-circles on the edge of the white polish. You can go for small or tiny ones.
  4. Let's finish the white part first. Ready your big dotting tool & dip it on black polish.
  5. Then make uniformed dots on the white part. Depending on your preference, you can put in more dots.
  6. Using the tiny dotting tool, you start putting dots on the outer part of the half circles like so.
  7. Make sure you also put dots on the other circle.
  8. Then to finish your lace, add 2 more tiny dots per circle on the inside (just at the edge of the white).
  9. Apply your top coat & make sure you clean the edge of your nail.
There!
Isn't this really cute?
I love how it looks like! I can't wait until my 'pare' would be able to see my nails. He always looks forward to seeing my nails every weekend. hehe

I am trying out the Tony Moly base coat & i am liking it so far!
No nail stains! Finally!!!!!
A base coat that is able to protect my nails~
I have to continue using it before i give my final verdict.

I said before that nail art is my accessory & it is indeed!

I feel like i can take on the world even without make-up as long as my nails are looking posh! hahaha!
Do tell me if you were able to make this design too,ok?

Have a happy friday,sweeties!

Weekend Nails: polka hearty

This was how my nails look like last weekend. I should made the tutorial for this but i have been quite busy recently so i don't get to visit my blog as much as i want to.
*sigh*

Anyway, making this is really easy.
The one thing that made this design such a breeze to do is because of the cute heart decals that KKCenterhk.com sent me.

Here is the tutorial for this design. Please click the pic to see it better.

Materials needed:
  • white polish/acrylic
  • liner brush
  • dotting tool
  • your choice of 3 polish (for the decal base & dots)
  • heart water decals
I used a different color combination for my tutorial but the process is just the same.

  1. I applied a holographic base but you can use glitters if you want to or can just go bare.
  2. Using a white polish/acrylic & a liner brush, i then sweep a thin line at the side of the nail like in the pic.
  3. Then fill it in with white polish/acrylic.
  4. With your choice of polish as a base, apply it on the 1/3 side of the nail... depending on your decals, you can make it bigger or smaller.
  5. Pick your own decals & prepare them.
  6. Carefully apply your decals on the part where you applied the base color.
  7. Pick out 2 colors that you would want your dots to be.
  8. Then alternately apply them on the white part.
  9. Don't forget to finish it up with your favorite top coat!
I love this decal!
It's cute,ne?

If you want to get the same decals, you can head on over to KKCenterhk.com. They have lots of water decals to choose from!

You can use the code BLGA124TH10 for a 10% off your purchase.

I'll be doing another nail art tutorial this week.
Have a great day,hunnies!

Weekend Nails:Rose Patterned nails

Just a short post...

Here is the tutorial for the nail art that i had on my last post.

I have to say that it's not really that difficult to do. It will just require you a steady hand & the thinnest detailing brush that you can get your hands on.

I used acrylic as my medium in this nail art.
I used a dotting tool that has a fine tip & a sable detailing brush.

Click the pic for a larger image...

1. Add a uniformed dots as a background.
2. Do swirls to form as roses.
3. Using a C/V shape pattern, a darker shade of the same color of your swirl at the bottom to act as the sepal.
4. Add stems & leaves with your green color.
5. Put dots in the middle of the flower as the bud.
6. Finish it off with blings if you want to.

Just some notes to remember when i did this tutorial.
I just remembered to add dots on the middle of the roses right after i put on the rhinestones so you'll see how messy it looks already when i put the dots.

Also, i used white acrylic as my base color here since i just did 1 nail for the tutorial so you'll see that it cracked when i applied top coat because it was still a bit wet when i finished it.

It's better to use polish on dots because it would give you a better looking dots. since the consistency of polish is thick, it will produce a dot, as opposed to acrylic. You'll see how haphazard my dots are. Anyway, it's not like the dots are the point of this look. It just a background pattern, but if you want it to look perfect, then use polish when making dots.

I think it's better to have the stems in just 1 direction unlike how i did it the first time. Having the stem in just 1 direction will give it a better look. I just don't like to do my nails over again, but just trust me in on this. hehe

I used faux pearls as an added bling. It's ok to not apply it if you don't have it.

There ya go!
Do tell me when you have tried this nail art,ok?
I would love to see how you did it too

Simbang gabi will start tomorrow!
How fast time flies! Can you believe that Christmas is already next week?
Wow!

Hope you all are enjoying your day!

Weekend Nails:Black Lace Sticker

A quick post!

I'm glad that you all like my weekend nails on my last post. I also like it..haha!
I had searched high & low for black lace stickers & im just glad that La Una Loca Nail Art have those. It's my go-to store for my nail art needs.

What i like about this lace sticker is that it is flat.

Unlike the usual 3d stickers that protrudes, this one doesn't so it really sticks to your nail & won't be "lifted" very easily. 2 coats of top coat to seal it in will do the job. Compare to the usual stickers, you have to use like 4-5 top coats, but it will still be removed very easily. This one lasted on my nails really long!

This design is really easy!
Sorry, the pic at the bottom (with the dots) looks different because i had to redo the tutorial & now i can't find that specific lace pattern that i used here... so gomen ne.

I leave the choice of colors to you.
I used blue, yellow & green as my dots, but you can just use 1 or more colors depending on how you want it to look! I just figured that since my base is black,i'll just go for bright, fun colors rather than just one.

You can visit Lynette's page if you are interested in this kind of lace stickers. I bought mine for only 3pcs for Php 100.

Hope you all have a great day, ladies!

Weekend Nails:Paint Splats

One of my favorite Kikay reader & friend, Kix, asked me if i can do a tutorial on paint splats. I have actually thought of trying our paint splats ever since Thriszha gave me a stamping plate that has paint splats too. I'm not really good in stamping so i still prefer freehand nail designs..hehe

This is a very fun nail art, don't you think?
I am liking it!
This is very easy to do! Perfect for beginners!

Materials needed:

  • your choice of polishes
  • dotting tool
The key to this design is to just be random. It doesn't need to follow a certain pattern. It's more fun if you do it randomly. Did you notice how the colors are just randomly put?

Click the pic for a larger step by step instruction...

Just start out with the lightest color first going to the more opaque ones. It's ok to overlap the lines because it just adds uniqueness to the design. Add random dots on any free space.

Don't forget to finish it with your favorite top coat!

This is perfect because tomorrow will be a fun day for me. I'll be going to the Cosmetics Expo at the SM Megamall tomorrow with my nail art group! Yay!

If you see me, don't hesitate to say hi.. Don't worry, I don't eat people...haha!
Hope you will have a great weekend, sweeties!

Weekend Nails: Easy Lace Design

A quick post for tonight....

I had this sitting on my draft for a long time. I have been contemplating if i would actually finish this post because i am not satisfied with the look but since Sis Relyn Anne requested that i put it up so i am making this post especially for her.

Thank you so much for "liking" my FB page, sweetie.
I do appreciate the time you take reading my posts.

I just added the rhinestones to have a bit of color. You can get away with just dots or anything. You can also use this to just prettify the usual french twist.. giving it a twist!

Let's start...

1. As usual, choose your own base color. Mine is a golden beige iridescent polish.

2. I put white polish on the top half of my nails, applying it sideways. Then using white acrylic/polish, i draw half circles on the edge of the line. This would be the shape of our lace.

3. Using a dotting tool, put white dots on the edge of the white line like so...

4. Using the same dotting tool, apply dots on the half circles that we drew. Just make sure that you don't overcrowd the dots by giving it a bit of space so that the whole dot will be shown to make it softer.

Again, this is just the lace tutorial.
I will make a full lace tutorial sometime.

Have a great evening,ladies!

Weekend Nails:Hime-inspired pinks & dots

This is really a Hime-inspired nail art, except that i don't have the guts to put in lots of rhinestones or acrylic decorations. I'm not really a fan of nail art, you see, but that didn't stop me from lusting over those uber cute Hime nails. Hime, by the way, stands for Princess in Japanese. So it basically means Princess Nails! hahaha!

Basically, the point of Hime nails is to don a very girly-looking nail design so it's more of pinks & iridescent polishes. Love love love looking at deco hime-nails! I would love to try it for once but i have this habit of letting my hair loose so i keep on running my hands on  it every now & then. It would be very impractical of me to don a 3d nail art if i will keep on doing that,ne?

What's fun about this is that you can add more decorations based on your preference. I just added a small one by stamping that ribbon image then topping it off with a pink pearl.

You can add rhinestones all over the round edges of the nail (the lunula part) for that extra oomph!

This is not hard to do. The only annoying part is the waiting time... (-__-"). You know how impatient i get when i do my nail arts. I hate waiting for polishes to dry so i most often put Seche Vite already on my base color so i cut my waiting time in 90%!

By the way, these are my real nails. I hate using fake nails because they feel heavy.
^_~

Materials needed:

  • hot pink polish - i used The Face Shop's PK 106 (its freakin' awesome!love it!)
  • black polish
  • dotting tool/bobby pin
  • white polish for dotting (you can use pink if you want to)
  • top & base coat
  • sheer iridescent pink polish (optional)
  • stamping materials (optional)
  • rhinestones/glitters (optional)

1. Let's first make a very obvious lunula for that edgy-look. I applied a pink iridescent polish as my main base because i like how it reflects the light every time i move my fingers. Apply your polish at the base making a V-shaped indentation like the 1st pic. Then join the edges together by making a small curve. You can also do this when you are making french-tipped manicure. This is way easier compare to putting sticky tapes (if you don't have a french-tip sticker).

2. Using the same procedure, use the black polish to the top half of your nail like in the pic. Wait until it dries. Sorry for the mess...

3. Then add dots on the black part only using a white polish.

4. Decorate your nails on how simple/blingy you want it to be. As what i said you can put rhinestones or acrylic ribbons/flowers based on your preference. Then add top coat!

See?
This is not hard to do!

I hope you'll try & make this design as well because it's so fun to look at!

Have a great weekend,hunnies!
Jaa ne~!
^_^

ps:
I arranged the category of my nail art posts already. So it won't be hard to look for it. Feel free to check out the different labels of each. I classified it into their colors/designs. This certain nail design falls in the Nail Art-Pinks & Nail Art-Dots

Weekend Nails: squares & dots~

Sorry if im not able to update my blog regularly. I have loads of classes & i spend my free time mostly doing researches. I do take lots of pictures for the posts that i plan to do but it's just accumulating because i don't have the time to blog anymore. I feel like half of my PC's memory are JPEG files already! LOL!

Anyway, this is actually my first nail art for the year 2011. For some reason i am having a hard time coming up with designs. I wonder where all my ideas before flew off to? *sigh* I hope that i'll be able to make lots of nail arts this year!

Not yet weekend, but i decided to publish this post already..hehe. Hoping that this would be a nice beginning to jumpstart my blogging mood!

As always, the choice of colors would be all up to you. I just decided to try out this combination for i haven't done this yet. Actually that's yellow & maroon nail polish but i guess the maroon looks more like a brown underneath the yellow base...

Enough with the ya-da ya-da & let's let the pictures do the talking from now...

1. Apply your base coat & base polish as well.

2. Then paint half of your nails with your choice of light-colored polish as a base for the design. It's better to start with the light colors as base in everything. You'll make the colors pop more! Let it dry completely. You can choose to have all of them with 1 design, i just experimented to see if it would look ok if i will do it randomly...LOL

3. Using a detailing brush or any brush that has a fine pointed tip (i actually love using my old eyeliner brush), draw lines like this so to act as a guide on what areas you will be shading to have that checkered effect. Try to draw lines as thinly as you can.

4. Then fill the squares with the dark colored polish....

5. So that it would look like this... I actually think it already looks pretty nice,ne?

6. Using a dotting tool (or just the tip of a bobby pin), create dots at the center of each square using the contrasting color for each.

7. Finish it by drawing a line where your design meets your base polish just to polish it off. In my case, since i have these cute colored small balls (on which i don't even know how to call it!), i decided to put it to good use.

Lining them up in a straight line is pretty difficult! hahaha! Look how uneven they are!

Now, if you also have these small balls & is planning to use it on your designs, i advise that you apply top coat before putting this because if you apply top coat after this, the color would somehow "melt" away. (-__-")

Again, im not a fan of nail stuff that protrudes so i'm not even sure if i will be using it again. But it looks cute,ne?

Well then , hope you will all have a great day!

Jaa ne~!

Believe in B.liv's Dump Off Drawn! I do!

I was contacted by B.liv weeks ago to try out their products. I have been so lazy in applying any skin care products lately that I can alrea...
