Let's help~

I was devastated upon hearing that a tsunami just engulfed the northern most part of Japan. Once a place that's prosperous, now it's filled with grief from all the lives that was taken away from a single sweep of water.

I just can't imagine the loss of the victims. If i put myself in their shoes, thinking of how everything...my dreams, properties, happy memories that i had with our houses, things that have sentimental values for me, etc.. being swept away in just a single flash just reduce me to a teary-state how much more for these people.

My heart goes out to Japan. Japan is one country that is really very dear to me, same with South Korea. If you can donate, please do so for im sure a small amount can go a long way! You can click HERE to get to know how.

If you can't provide any financial help, uttering a simple prayer would also help. I'm sure that this is something that we all can do. I hope that as you read this post, you utter a simple prayer to all the people who died, is still missing, experiencing grief, etc. that they may be able to find peace/recover from this.

As what we always say, God only gives us something that we can overcome. I'm sure that this is something that will leave a big mark in Japan's history. Let's try to help as much as we can.

my heartfelt prayers to Haiti

My heart goes out to Haiti.

A once beautiful place was all shaken up badly, hundreds of houses destroyed, thousands of people homeless & millions of properties damaged by the terrible quake. I know that in time, it will be able to rise again & show the world that nothing can ever put Haiti down.

Let us help Haiti. Let's all contribute. If not monetary, then the time to utter a prayer or a wish that the Haitians would be able to overcome the obstacle can already be a bid contribution. Times like these are very tough so let's try to help as much as we can.

Keep them in your thoughts & prayers & i'm sure that it will actually go in a long way. The Haitians are included in my prayers. May God keep us all safe.

thank you everyone!

My brother is now out of the hospital! Yipee!

Yesterday, he was released & we all breathed a sigh of relief when the doctor cleared him. & because we are all wary of mosquito bites, i bought a lot of Insect killer products. I'm sure the mosquitoes that bit my brother that's infected with the dengue virus is not from our house, but im not taking any chances at all.

I want to say thank you again for everyone who expressed concerns, uttered prayers, wished my brother a fast recovery, etc. I really appreciate it. Thank you so much! I can't thank you so much for that.

Regular blogging will be back next week & also a new layout. I figured that with all the bad things that has happened, i wanted to have a new look to symbolize a new start.

You can be rest assured that i'll be doing quality posts & reviews as my way of expressing gratitude.

Thank you again in behalf of me & the rest of my family~

~thanks for the prayers~

Thank you so much for the concerns, prayers & the well-wishes for my brother. My brother was diagnosed to have a dengue fever last week & he was admitted to the hospital exactly a week from now (Thursday). Last Sunday he was transferred to the ICU & let me tell you, it's such a very sad experience.

I know that being in the ICU is a way to just monitor the patient, but it have this implication that ICU=very bad health condition. So upon hearing the doctor's order that my brother be immediately transferred to the ICU to monitor his health, my mom broke down. She was crying & she had to excuse herself even though the doctor is not yet finish talking to her. So it was my dad who talked to the doctor instead.

With God's grace, my brother is now out of the ICU, out of danger but still in the hospital.

Once again, thank you so much for each & every one who had expressed sympathy, uttered prayers & express concerns over my brother's welfare.

I'll go back to beauty blogging as soon as my brother is out of the hospital. Im still hoping & praying that he will be out of the hospital by the end of this week. Hope you will still pray for my brother's full recovery.

Thank you,girls!

prayers needed for my little brother

Im gonna be on blog hiatus again...not because i had so much fun on my birthday celebration that i barely have anything to write, but because my little brother is in the hospital with dengue fever.

My little brother has had a very high fever ever since last Tuesday. Yesterday he had to have his blood tested & it's only today that we knew that it's dengue fever. He was immediately confined to the hospital. My mum called a little while ago telling me that she will be staying in the hospital with my dad. It scared me when i heard my mum crying because she is not a crybaby. In fact, i hardly ever see her cry. She said that my brother is already hallucinating because of high fever.

My dad was involved in a motorcycle accident just a couple of days ago....now my brother has a dengue fever. I know that this is just one of God's trial for my family, but i think it's too much because it's only been days since dad's accident. I can't help but feel guilty for this. Is 25 a bad age? What could be next?!
:(

Sorry about the rant...It just makes me feel helpless & scared at the same time. Hope you can utter a small prayer for my brother.

my secret giveaway winner + an outburst

Foreword:
this is gonna be an emotional outburst from me so expect my long & boring tale. If you're dying to know the winner feel free to scroll down click the link to see who.

I said that i'll be on hiatus for the time being to at least give some time & respect (or whatever you call it) for the crisis that my country is experiencing at the moment. As what i said, i won't be posting any beauty related stuff for this is my way of being one with my country that's why i decided to post the comment winner now rather than risk me forgetting all about it because of the hullabaloo.

For my real followers, i posted one secret giveaway a few days ago. My secret giveaway is only for those who really follow my blog. I wanna thank the people who continually support me. Much as i would love to give each & everyone a thank you token,i can't.

Originally, i plan to actually have 4 secret giveaways as a way to celebrate my birthday. But ever since the disaster happened, i just decided to give the money that i plan to spend on my giveaways to the people who are needy. There would be lots more time where i can do my giveaways, but i think now it's better if i help my own country first & foremost.

I'm sorry if there are some people that expected my giveaways (for i hinted before that i would be having some). But my priority is my country...

You see, no matter how many people denies being a Filipino....
*cough*Jacque Bermejo issue*cough*,
even if other people think that we're nothing but monkeys....
*cough*UglyYubin twitter issue*cough*

I stand tall & proud that even if we were hit by any crisis, we can still laugh & give each other hope!

A while ago, when i went to the post office, one woman that i always talked to, told me that their house up until now is flooded...& the worst part is, it's not water, but it's mud. As we were talking, she was telling me the ordeal that she went through...but you know what... as she were narrating it, i can see her relief that all the members of her family is safe. She was smiling amidst the tears because she knows that no amount can compare to her family's safety.

I am gathering all the spare things that we have here so that i can give it to her as soon as i can. She is just one of the hundreds of thousands of people during the flood. I watched the news this evening & i can see people smiling & still making a joke of what happened. How can i turn my back on people like this?

After the typhoon Ketsana, there is another one that is looming ahead & it's said to be a super typhoon. I hope that you help us utter a prayer that it won't be as strong as it was predicted. My countrymen is just starting to stand up from the blow that we experienced, we don't need another one.

Ok, on to the winner...
Click HERE to find out who is the lucky lady who will be shopping at Toma's shop for $15.

~a break from blogging~

I'll be taking a short break from beauty blogging up until the time that the situation here in metro manila has stabilized. I have not posted anything since saturday & might not be posting anything this week. Although i'm not physically affected by the tropical storm, but there are a lot of Filipinos suffering the aftermath of the storm.

Thank you for the messages of concern that i received asking how i am. Luckily, our house is situated on a higher place so were spared from the damage by the storm brought about by typhoon Ketsana.

Saturday, the day when Ketsana hit the greater metropolitan, i was just on my bed. I lingered there because it's cold & what's better to do on a rainy day but just stay in bed, right? All the time that i was safely cuddled in warmth, most of my fellow Filipinos are already fighting for their lives, salvaging all their belongings in order to survive.

Mid-afternoon, I heard how the wind howled, like an angry creature, lashing out all it's claws. The rain continuously pour like there's no tomorrow. I knew right there & then that it would bring about destruction. Electricity was flickering & i was thinking there would be a black out in our area, but luckily, it didn't. The storm was so strong that i fear that our roof would be blown away.

Come evening, i was watching the news & i was horrified to know that the torrential rains brought the largest flood that the city had ever witnessed.

Im pretty sure that you have seen pictures on the internet but seeing & personally witnessing it are 2 different things.

You can take a look of some of the pics HERE.

Last Sunday, i went to meet my bf at a nearby mall just to see each other. I was horrified to see the aftermath of the flood for when i was on a bus, it passed by BB Valenzuela City, an area that was also greatly flooded. I saw the flood marks on the wall of an establishment, which is almost 6ft tall. The place where we sometimes passed by was engulfed by the flood on that eventful day.

Hundreds had died & still missing, thousands had been affected by the flood, millions worth of damaged properties. I hope that Ketsana won't cause further damage to any place anymore.

I was reading Frances' recent blog post & i was deeply touched by what she wrote about the man being saved & it was his birthday.
The rescue! There's this story of a man on a rescue boat who suddenly asked, "Sept 28 na ba ngayon?" ["Is it already Sept 28?"] and when the rescuers replied yes, he sadly said, "Birthday ko na pala." ["Oh, it's my birthday."] The rescuers who were paddling looked at him in surprise then they all loudly sang him the birthday song! Oh God, I love my country. Thank you for making me a Filipino!

It made me so proud to be a Filipino because even in the midst of crisis, we are still able to shed some light & hope to each other.

Hope that you would find in your heart to donate the things that you are not using, or a little financial help would do to at least ease the burden brought about by the recent crisis that my country is experiencing at the moment. Help us help our fellow citizen by sending in some small donations. You can send in your donations HERE.

I'll be back in the blogging world after a couple of days. I just wouldn't feel right if i go posting beauty related stuff while most of my fellow countrymen are suffering. I'll still be reading your posts though. Regular postings will resume next week.

Until then...may God help us all.

Believe in B.liv's Dump Off Drawn! I do!
