Week 7:Nailicious! (CLOSED)

Week 7 already!
It's almost Christmas, hunnies!!!
What are your Christmas plans?

You all know that i love making nail arts so i'm quite excited for this week's giveaway. It's all about your nails!

Tips and toes transformed with colours. A week of pampered nails is coming your way.
Do you know that in ancient Egypt, women used nail colour to signify social order with shades of red at the top? Queen Nefertiti, the wife of King Akhenaton, coloured her fingernails and toenails ruby red;Cleopatra favored crimson. Women of lower rank who coloured their nails were permitted only pale colours. (Wikipedia)
Want a perfect mani-pedi experience? Here are 5 tips from HBC:
1.    Remove traces of old polish with a nail polish remover.
2. Soak nails in warm, soapy water then add a few drops of essential oil like lavender or peppermint.
3.    Clip tips straight across and gently push cuticles back (resist the urge to trim them). Use a sharp nipper to cut hang nails, and lightly lift away dirt under the nail bed using an orange stick.
4.    File nails to leave edges smooth after clipping. Apply lotion and spray nail surfaces with rubbing alcohol to disinfect and prep them for polish. Wipe dry.
5.    Apply your choice of lacquer starting from the base of the nail brushing outwards. Use a cotton swab or a cotton-covered stick dipped in nail polish remover to remove excess polish on the sides. Finish with a coat of clear polish.
Women of today are so lucky to experiment with whatever nail colour they want, so give your nails the love they deserve with subtle to vibrant hues enriched with Vitamins C and E like San San nail polishes. Take 5 of these for yourself when you answer this week’s question:
What’s your secret to fab-looking nails? Happy Beautiful Christmas!

Answer: My secret to my fab looking nails is olive oil, I put the olive on my nails before I go to sleep so that it will become strong and shiny. And also I don’t let my nail polish last for more than 3 days because it can cause yellow discoloration on nails.

Answer: (1) To keep your nails hydrated, rub a small amount of petroleum jelly into your cuticle and the skin surrounding your nails every evening before you go to bed or whenever your nails feel dry. (2) Wear rubber gloves whenever you do housework or wash dishes. And for extra hand softness, apply hand cream before you put on the rubber gloves. (3) Trim your toenails straight across to avoid ingrown toenails. This is particularly important if you have diabetes. (4) Dry your hands for at least two minutes after doing the dishes, taking a bath/shower, etc. Also dry your toes thoroughly after swimming or showering. Leaving them damp increases your risk of fungal infection. (5) Air out your shoes. Better yet, keep two pairs and switch between them so you’re never putting your feet into damp, sweaty shoes, which could lead to fungal infections. (6) Wear 100 percent cotton socks. They’re best for absorbing dampness, thus preventing fungal infections. (7) Stretch out the beauty of a manicure by applying a fresh top coat every day. (8) Add a glass of milk and a hard-boiled egg to your daily diet. Rich in zinc, they’ll do wonders for your nails, especially if your nails are spotted with white, a sign of low zinc intake. (9) File your nails correctly. To keep your nails at their strongest, avoid filing in a back-and-forth motion — only go in one direction. And never file just after you’ve gotten out of a shower or bath — wet nails break more easily. (10) Massage your nails to keep them extra strong and shiny. Nails buffing increases blood supply to the nail, which stimulates the matrix of the nail to grow. (11) Polish your nails, even if it’s just with a clear coat. It protects your nails. If you prefer color, use a base coat, two thin coats of color, and a top coat. (12) Avoid polish removers with acetone or formaldehyde. They’re terribly drying to nails. Use acetate-based removers instead.

I keep my nails strong, healthy and beautiful with these nail care tips to have a fab-looking nails. I do protect, polish and prevent my nails from damage.

The basic tips:
Cleansing
Moisturizing
Exfoliation

I Do:
-Keep my fingernails dry and clean. to prevent bacteria, fungi and other organisms from growing under your fingernails. Wear cotton-lined rubber gloves when washing dishes, cleaning or using harsh chemicals, and avoid long soaks in the tub.
-Trim and file my fingernails regularly.
-Use moisturizer. When using hand lotion, rub the lotion into fingernails and cuticles, too.
-I use attractive and safe nail polish. Polish your nails, even if it’s just with a clear coat. It protects my nails. If you prefer color, use a base coat, two thin coats of color, and a top coat
-Remove dead skin cells from hands using a sea salt-lemon solution. Use an old toothbrush to brush it in your hands twice a week. This will help soften your hands and get rid of any discoloration.
-Avoid polish removers with acetone or formaldehyde. They’re terribly drying to nails. Use acetate-based removers instead.
I Don't:
-Abuse my fingernails. To prevent nail damage, don't use fingernails as tools to pick, poke or pry things.
-Bite my fingernails or pick at cuticles. These habits can damage the nail bed. Even a minor cut alongside your fingernail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter and cause an infection.
-Pull off hangnails. it might rip live tissue along with the hangnail. Instead, carefully clip off hangnails.
-Ignore problems. Protect hands daily from anything that could cause injury or any form of abuse. If I have a nail problem that doesn't seem to go away on its own or is associated with other signs and symptoms, I consult a doctor or dermatologist for an evaluation.

For me, fabulous looking nails can complete one's look, some women don't go shy in spending monies on manicures that will leave their nails looking enviable. Here are some tips to have a fab looking nails:

1. Your nails are true reflection of what you eat. Eating fast foods will in no way make your nails healthy and strong.

2. Hand lotions help to moisturize the hands and strenghthen the nails, so be sure to use them after your hands have been in water.

3. Ensure that you do not use nails or blades to remove nail polish this will do a lot of damage to the nails.

4. You can put your nail polish in the freezer so as to keep the nail polish smooth and perfect for the next use.

5. An inexpensive and quick way to fix dry or brittle nails is to use petroleum jelly. Ensure that you carry a small jar everywhere, massaging it into your cuticles and nails as you deem fit.

6. While filing nails, begin with the sides and brush towards the center, using light stroked in the samae direction. Please try as much as possible to avoid filing nails back and forth, it weakens or break the nails.

7. To get glossy and gleaming shine, rub olive oil over nails.

8. Ensure while cleaning the nails, you remove all traces of nail polish.

That's it! You will have a fab looking nail especially this Christmas.

My secret to fab looking nails is simplicity! As much as possible i really don't use nail polish so i can let my nails "breath". Drinking alot of water helps too, or probably that's just what i think.. more oxygen to the nails heehee. I cut my nails and clean them once a week! Applying some clear coat nail polish can also help in making them look shiny and fabulous!

I just make sure that I don't end-up with yellowish nails by applying a base coat prior to applying my favorite colored nail polish to prevent the lacquer pigment from transferring to my nail. Our nails need to breath too, so go bare for a few days and let our nails regain their healthy shine! And if your nails are weak, I suggest that you eat enough protein and apply a nail strengthening treatment.
It can really make a difference for your nails.

1) You don't have to be an expert to give your nails that eye catching definition that makes a difference, all you need is a little bit of skill, time and practice, and soon you'll definitely be able to achieve a salon-style manicure that will receive admiration from all of your friends .
2) Nail polish has become a must have of the season, but if your nail polish gets chipped, your manicure will look disastrous. Carry your nail polish with you and repair any nail polish chips in time so that you always have lovely and flawless looking nails.

~to get rid of #2 better have hbc nail polish products! :D
