Etude House Magic Bubble Peeling

I've had this for quite some time but i haven't used it much for i hate the scent. I have thought of including this in my blogsale but since i lost the cap, shipping this would be hard so i just decided against it. I figured that i'll just review it.

We all know why we need to exfoliate so i'll spare you all the details about it. Some prefer those that feels abrasive like St. Ive's Apricot Scrub, while some prefer those gentle facial scrubs that contains micro beads. Either way, they only do 1 job... and that is to get rid of the dead skin cells.

There are a lot of available "exfoliators" in the market... peeling gels, creams, etc. Mousse is one of the newest way to exfoliate. Etude House's Magic Bubble Peeling is in mousse form.

It is a big bottle, which is quite bulky. So not really good for traveling. But the packaging looks so cute! What a nice purple shade!

There's a space where you get to press to dispense the product. You have to shake it like crazy first though to make sure you get that foamy mousse texture.

Since i haven't used mine for months now, the texture had gone runny, but it's still ok since there is an "expiration date" at the bottom of the can so you'll know when you need to discard it already.

When you apply it on your skin, you just need to continue rubbing for it will develop to a glue-like texture which makes the dead skin cells stick to it therefore doing the exfoliating.

These are the things that i notice. The scent is a major turn-off for me. It has that artificial coconut-ty. I hate artificial scents, i hate coconut scents...so i hate the scent of this product! It also leaves a sticky feeling after using so make sure that you rinse your face afterward.

It is a gentle exfoliator, yes, but since this product needs you to rub it all over your face, pulling & tugging the skin is not good... add the fact that you have to apply pressure as you rub this on makes this a not-so-good product for me. So it would be like, theoretically, this is gentle since it's not abrasive... but how you use this won't be like a walk in the park for your skin either.

Just think of your skin as an apple.
If you constantly pull & tug, rubbing it hard all because you want to make sure that the skin looks shiny before you put it on the fruit plate, you just do not know it but the layer underneath the skin has already suffered.

Anyway, this is just my opinion. I could be wrong about this. Basically, how the way you apply & use it will depend entirely on you. Just rub it gently & don't wash your face before using this. Make sure that your face is dry & not moist. If you apply this in moist skin it won't turn to glue-like consistency, therefore wasting the product.

This retails for Php478, based on the Etude House website. I know that there is the Magic Enzyme Peeling Pack which is in liquid form (i think). I think it's better to buy the Magic Enzyme if you want to maximize your money. This is in mousse form so it's like half of the product that you are pumping out is actually air. (-__-")

Let's do a summary...
PROS:

• locally available
• it could last you quite sometime
• you could control the amount that you need
• there's an expiration date so you'll know when to ditch i

CONS:

• the scent is a turn-off for me
• I think it's actually expensive. i'd rather use a good ol' sugar scrub
• bulky packaging

I can't really think of anymore to say since this did not wow-ed me at all. Actually it made it to my "products-i-regret-buying" list even though i think it is a good exfoliator.

This is based on my personal reference. If you like peeling products like this then give this a shot. Who knows if this is actually a HG material for you?

Weekend Haul: Bobbie's Holoprism collection!

Since i am on a nail phase & i love holographic polishes, when i discovered the Bobbie Vodka on Ice I just have to check back to know if there are more. I am glad to know that Vodka on Ice is a part of the Holoprism collection! I don't know when this was released but it doesn't matter since it seems like Bobbie is not like those foreign brands that has limited period when a collection will be on sale. So i bought the polishes that i don't have & now i have them!

Well, not quite for i am missing the "Weng Weng" shade, but since the Mutya's Panglao Drive is almost like it so it's no sweat. I'm already happy for i have my own holographic polishes!

I'm really so happy that Bobbie, our very own local brand, makes great polishes! Again, sorry if im not able to take good pics of their holographic-ness for the sun was playing tricks on me.

I'll post some nail swatches some other time. Especially the purple passion, for it almost closely resembles Fashion Addict! I have to do that tomorrow or else i won't be able to fall asleep not knowing if it does. LOL!

Last Saturday, I met with Sis Honey because she bought a couple of stuff from my blogsale. She is really pretty & friendly. I felt so guilty because i was so late for my persistent back pains has been bothering me for almost a week. Doctor said that it could be rheumatism linked to obesity. I know i need to lose weight & now i should really do it. In fact, i have already been gathering info on what gym will be best suited for me.

Anyway, going back, since i am already in the mall i decided to go around. I told myself that i don't really need to buy anything but when i passed by the toiletries section of Landmark i was doomed! I wasn't able to help myself especially when i saw the Delon Cotton Rounds! I was so happy!

The first time that i used Delon Cotton Rounds was when my family & I went to Subic for last year's summer vacation. I bought it at Pure Gold & has been regretting not buying a lot. Knowing that i can buy this when i ran out of it just makes me happy. I'll most probably be making a post about why i got so excited over this certain cotton rounds. Actually, up until now i am thinking if i should make a post about it for it seems pointless making a post about cotton rounds...LOL!

Then when i passed by Elianto, the usual Php 199 polishes are on sale & i got them only for Php 80. I decided to take advantage of it & grabbed 3 colors...

I'm not a fan of glitter polishes that's why i only bought 3 even though the price slash is even more than half. So for those who love this certain Elianto line, better take advantage of it. I think they will be on sale up until mid-week of January (not really sure though). I visited Landmark Makati, im not sure if the "sale" is applicable to other branches as well.


I have to buy a couple of things for me as well...toiletries, clothes, etc... Why is it that we women are so weak against the "sale" sign? What is it about the letter combination S-A-L-E that we get so worked up? LOL!

When i passed by Watson at SM Valenzuela on the way to visit Walter, & saw the Crayon stall i notice that they had a very cute Nail Hardener in an adorable bottle.

Sorry for the pic... will post a better pic later on. The brand is supposed to be a Japanese but i haven't heard of this yet. They also carry cosmetics as well like eyeshadows, blushes, face powder, lipstick, etc. But again, i don't want to apply make-up as much as possible so i don't see the need to buy it even just for trying it out.

I sure do hope that my acne clears out. I am using Eskinol + Dalacin C & it's working a bit. It was highly recommended by Sis Louie so i have to give it a try. I tried it before but i bought the big bottle & she said it's better to use the smaller one together with 1 capsule of 150mg Dalacin C. I do still break out every now & then but it was able to dry my zits faster. I'll be continuing this routine for 2 months then i'll make a review about it after.

Walter was sick & i decided to drop by without telling him. OMG! He was so shocked when he saw me. I should have taken a pic of him..LOL- talking about unexpected visits..hehe. I signaled to his mom & his cousin to not say a thing when they saw me & we were just waiting for him to notice me. It took him a minute before he noticed that i was standing in front of him. He opened his mouth, uttered "Oh!" then clutched his chest! ahahaha! I won't ever forget that scene! Even his mom was laughing at him! LOL

Buying nail polishes are not as expensive compare to buying make-up. So i guess in a way, i can still do retail therapy without breaking my bank!

Weekend is over & now it's time to work again.

Mentholatum Lip Ice Color Lip Balm in Candy Apple Review

I first heard of this product from Sis Pammy. Although i have been seeing this in Watsons, but since im not a fan of lip balms anymore i thought that it would be a waste buying something that i won't even be using. The thing that i don't like about lip balm is that it will leave this waxy film on top of your lips. It's like instead of moisturizing, it sits on top of my lips making it chap all the more, even though most claims that they are indeed moisturizing.

I guess it's just my lips but i am pretty particular with lip balms. Most of my experiences with them are just not that good anymore. In fact, my beloved Nivea Lip Care just stopped working on me. I have a couple of lip balms & lip butters here but i just can't seem to get them to work for me. I hate the waxy texture!

But when she said that this is not waxy at all, i was sold. A lip balm that is not waxy?! I have always related lip balm to waxy texture so a non-waxy feeling lip balm would be a good one to try. Add the fact that it's wallet-friendly so it's as good as sure already.

So the next time that i dropped by Watson i purchased one myself. There are a lot of variants of the Lip Ice line so i was confused on what i should be getting. I think i spent 20 minutes deciding what to get...LOL! After much self-debating, i decided to get this one. I'm actually quite happy when i got home that i got the same with what Pammy got. Yay!

Cute packaging! It got those star-like design on it. It's pretty sleek too so it's prefect to toe along on your purse. It says that it got SPF 15...good!

 The color might fool you into thinking that this is a lipstick,ne?

This is the swatch... i think i swiped this twice or thrice. I can't remember... it is actually sheer but it is build-able.

I think most ladies can get away with this color when swatched. It looks good on my lips when im in front of the mirror, but when i tried wearing this when i used my web camera, i looked like i've aged drastically!
*sigh*

Anyway, i guess this shade just doesn't suit me... which is still a puzzle for me as to how it can't compliment my skin. Well, i'll just let this sleeping dog lie. I can just try the other variant that they had. Maybe that will work for me better than this one.

But as for the non-waxy feeling, it's true that it doesn't have that heavy waxy feeling unlike ordinary lip balm. There is a mild glossy feeling but only your first application. It feels light on your lips. Another thing why i like this is that it just doesn't sit on my lips, it locks moisture & hydrates the lips too! I haven't experienced my lips chap for the duration that im using this!

I have tried a couple of lip balms & again, it makes my lips chap like crazy!

This is a keeper. I would even overlook the fact that the color doesn't look good on me..as long as it doesn't make my lips chap, im on for it! As what i said, there is another variant available... i'll keep my fingers crossed that it would somehow suit me.

You can see the price right on the picture at the top. It retails for Php 125 each. It's a steal compare to other lip balms out there considering that this doesn't only moisturize the lips but it also has spf 15.

As for the summary:

PROS:

• locally available
• has spf 15
• doesn't make my lips chap
• color is build-able
• has a lot of variants
• budget-friendly

CONS:

• i have been thinking hard but i can't find any except that the color doesn't work on me, but this is not a big deal for me though. i can just wear it at home.

Will i buy it?
I will not be buying this exact shade, but i will be trying out the other variants.

Maybelline Volum' Express The Magnum Waterproof Mascara Review

This is another mascara that made it on my "good products" list. I have always liked mascaras that are made specifically for asian lashes... They are formulated well for our needs & this one definitely works for me!

The last Maybelline mascara that i have tried is the Volum Express Cat Eyes mascara, which did a great job. I knew right there & then that that would not be the last Maybelline mascara that i will be trying. So when the The Magnum mascara was released i bought one but didn't get the chance to try it up until now. I had this sitting on my drawer for so long that i almost forgot all about it. Good thing i rearranged my things!

Going back, when i tried this, it didn't wow-ed me at first coat but i changed my mind after the 2nd. I'll tell you why later. Let's dissect the packaging first.

It's in a huge yellow tube much like the original black Volum Express.

I'm sure for beauty mavens, this huge yellow packaging closely resembled the The Colossal mascara that Maybelline released in the US. When i made a comment about why they change the name, Maybelline Philippines courteously answered my query.

"Hi thiamere :) first of all, thanks for the very honest review and it's great to hear that you really like the product. 

On your concern on the difference in names and packaging, we sometimes have to change either the formula or the pack for... different reasons. 

We change the formula when the one in the US does not suit asian needs (ex. Magnum vs Colossal - Colossal gives volume to unruly lashes vs magnum gives volume to downward pointing lashes).

We change the pack naman when the formula is the same, but the pack is so expensive that we would be forced to price it here at a very high amount. In these cases, we would rather put the product at an affordable price because we want every Filipina to use a good quality product with a reasonable pack. 

We know of course that there are also many makeup lovers who really collect the amazing packaging so we are trying to bring in both types of products. 

Our products are different from the US not just in the name but in the formula as well. :) Our local formulas are developed by our laboratories specifically for Asian skin tones and climate. It's much hotter and more humid here than in the US, so if we use their formulas, our products won't be long-wearing and won't fit our local needs. :)"

So there ya go, ladies.
That's what Maybelline has to say about the never-ending comparison between the Magnum & Colossal packaging.

Now that we got that out, let's go the basics. First is the wand.

It's slightly curved, but not like the original volum express hypercurl mascara wand. It's just a bit curved which makes it easier to manage it somehow when working with big brushes unlike those gigantic brushes that makes mascara application a bit clumsy. Unlike traditional mascara wands, the bristles are somehow stiffer that makes combing the product into each lashes very easy to do. I love how it can really coat each lashes because of the resiliency of the bristles! It is good in separating each lashes!

I have tried a lot of mascaras but the bristle wands are all soft which makes combing the lashes time-consuming because you need to swipe it over & over which just tends to put too much product therefore clumping the lashes together.

This kind of wand bought back my faith in bristle wands. I have always loved comb wands & this is the first bristle wand that i found perfect! Great job, Maybelline!

Now, a little note why i don't like the traditional bristle wand is that the tip always has that excess product, which makes it a bit hard to use especially if you are working on your outer lashes. I mean we mostly use the tip when we apply mascara on our outer lashes,right? But traditional wands would have that big gunk of mascara.... Although it just takes few seconds to wipe the product away from the tip but im sure you know what i mean,right?

As for the texture...
It's watery, which is what i prefer. I hate waxy mascaras. This has the perfect consistency which enables to coat each lashes without clumping it. It dries fast too! So far so good!

Let's see how it performs...

This is my curled-but-barely-there lashes...

One coat of this baby will give you very natural-looking feathery lashes.

Two coats of this will give that full-looking lashes in just a few swipes!

Again, with the texture being watery, it coats the lashes very easily. You don't need to swipe it for a gazillion times just to see the effect. This can be done in mere seconds!

La-la-LOVE!

It retains the curl & doesn't feel heavy at all. You know the feeling when the mascara feels somehow heavy that you want to close your eyes for a couple of seconds because it feels like something is sitting on your lashes? Well, this one isn't like that!

It barely feel like you have any mascara at all! It doesn't have that spiky-lashes feeling that some waterproof mascara gives.

As to this being waterproof, it is really waterproof.

Lightly rubbed it back & forth but it didn't budge. I'm not sure if this can withstand long crying session though unlike the Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Neo, but i think this is decent enough to brave the rain!

Since this is a waterproof mascara, it's not that easy to remove compare to non-waterproof (of course!). So you would need to have a good oil-based remover to completely get rid of it. But this is not THAT HARD to remove either. I'll tell you something that is REALLY HARD TO REMOVE on my next mascara post! But this one can be taken off with just a simple remover. No sweat! Just let the remover sit on your lashes to give enough time to dissolve the mascara.

As for the price, i'll leave it to you. I know that for some students out there, paying Php 429 a pop might be expensive, but let me tell you that this is really worth every single cents! Anyway, I notice that Maybelline has that regular "sale" period, so you might want to take advantage of it.

With all the exclamation points that you have seen in this post, i hope it justified why i said that this mascara made it to my "products to buy again & again & again" list. So, it's time to do a summary...

PROS:

• locally available
• wand is good, it can separate each lashes, much like comb wands!
• waterproof
• doesn't weigh the lashes down
• barely-there feel
• dries fast
• no clumping, smudging, flaking
• gives volume to the lashes
• long-wearing

CONS:

• doesn't lengthen the lashes

Will I buy it again?
I said that this mascara made it to my "products to buy again & again & again" so i will definitely be buying it again!
Uhh...now i'm confused which should i get again the next time... the Cat Eyes Mascara or this one?

Anyway, it's not really that hard to decide on since both are great mascaras!

When i just browsed the net, i found that there is also another The Magnum mascara, which is the Super Film one. I'm curious what's the difference between the waterproof version & the super film version...hmmm...

I saw the poster & read some mini reviews & i think it's a great mascara! I'm not sure but i think it's not available here in the Phlippines,ne?

Water Nail Decal Tutorial (pic heavy)

When i first heard of water decal i was fascinated. I thought that it is something fun & i was right! It is fun to put on water decals. With lots of designs that you could choose from, you could achieve a professional, artsy-looking nails without the hassle of waiting time-compare to traditional nail art using nail polish/acrylics.

It is also very easy to remove! Compare to nail stickers, which is a pain in the neck in removing, this one is a breeze!

These water decals that i got are already pre-cut, but there are decals that you can just cut for yourself, which are rectangular in shape.

The things that you will be needing will be:

• desired water decal
• water (of course!hehe)
• tweezers
• scissors
• orange stick
• cotton pad
• top coat (& base coat too)

The design that i opted to choose for this tutorial is this & this is what i wore last Christmas for i don't have the time to do my nails last anymore... holiday rush!

So you have to cut them one by one. Actually, 1 pre-cut set like this have 12 pieces. On which you would have 2 excess design, if ever you made a mess. You'll see at the top that the edges are meant for the pinkies & the ones in the middle would be for the thumbnails.

Then drop it on the water. Let it soak up enough water so that the design would dislodge from the paper...

which will make it easy to remove by using a pair of tweezers or even just by your hand.

Put it on your nail.. Don't worry about it sticking to your nails once you put it, if it's wet it won't stick, so you will have plenty of time to move it around & fit it.

If it's too big for your nail, free to trim it as you see fit. I suggest that you do it before you soak it up, but it would be hard to know if it will fit your nails or not if it's still on the paper... just try to keep your hands steady when you trim it if you need to.

Using an orange stick, make sure that the edges are smooth & that it doesn't have any bubbles on it.

Dry it up by pressing the cotton pad to absorb the water, therefore making it stick to your nails. Keep on pressing, making sure that you have removed as much water as you can.

You can either trim the excess decal or just let it be. I just opted to trim it first before applying top coat.

Then you finish it off with a top coat. The water decal will react to the top coat "melting" it therefore sticking to your nails that makes it look natural. By the way, the top coat that i am using here is TFS Nail Pleasure top coat.

You can just take the excess away using an orange stick or even your fingers. It doesn't matter. If you are having a hard time cleaning the edge, you can just file it away.

Clean the edges of the nail too by taking away any excess.

Then time to admire your nails!

Most probably your next question is, does it last long?
This would depend on your top coat. So if you want it to last long, use a good top coat. Or you can just apply top coat every now & then to keep it.

This is how it looked like after 4 days..

This is amidst all the dish washing, laundry, scratching & any everyday wear & tear. I used 2 coats of The Face Shop's Nail Pleasure top coat (my favorite top coat!). You can see that it chipped at the edges but nothing drastic.

Again, the lasting quality of this will depend on your top coat. So, in conclusion, i have to say that the TFS Nail Pleasure Top Coat top coat is the best that i have tried so far..hehe (i thought this is a water decal post?LOL!) I would just want to add that info if ever you are on the lookout for a good yet affordable top coat. I will do a full review of it later on though.

Removing this is just a breeze!
You just use your ordinary nail polish remover. It's just as what i said... it 'melts' therefore sticking to your nails. So you remove it like any ordinary polishes.

The price is not bad considering that you can buy 1 design for Php 50 (a little more than $1). I saw some sets being sold in Ebay for a cheaper price. 

You can buy it online at OneStop Kikay Shop (for local buyers), or just hop on over to Ebay (for international buyers). I bought mine at a small nail art store that is near my place.

If you haven't tried this one yet, give it a shot! Putting it on is very easy & taking it off too!

It's been while,everybody!

First off, i want to greet you all a Happy New Year~!

I wish you all had a great start for this year...and also say "Im Back!" for i have been MIA for 2 weeks or so. Sorry for that but i have a valid reason, you see..hehe..

I went on a blog hiatus this holiday without even further notice for i caught the flu bug + the holiday got the better part of me...Actually it's more of like the flu bug caught the better part of me. I have been in my bed, sneezing, coughing a week before Christmas then the holiday rush made me busy that i suffer a relapse twice. Up until now i am still coughing & have a cold but im way feeling better compare to last week. Thank God for that!

I took a break from work, which i really enjoyed. I haven't had a vacation for like 2 years so the break was appreciated. I had the time of my life lounging around & be lazy for the past couple of days. hahaha! I went away from cyberworld for the time being since my mum kept on saying that being exposed to TV/PC radiation might make me sick again so i just followed her & didn't went online.

Anyway, that's the reason why i wasn't able to even do a " on blog hiatus" post. But now that i'm back, i have a lot of things that i wanna share with you guys.I'll just go first with my new additions for my nail stuff collection. I said the last time that i won't be putting on cosmetics for the time being up until my skin has completely healed, so i'll be "glamming up" my nails for the time being.

I have heard from Sis Thriszha that Bobbie nail polishes are free from the main 3 toxic chemicals in nail products. So when i passed by the Bobbie stall i decided to get a couple of stuff.

The Base coat, Top Coat, Cuticle Oil & 2 nail polishes as well. That Mutya nail polish is also from Bobbie, though they just have a different name, but it is under 1 company as well. I have a soft spot for holographic polishes & i was over the moon when i saw Bobbie's Vodka on Ice & Mutya's Panglao Drive. They are holographic polishes! Whoopee!

It's just hard for me to take a pic of holo polishes since my camera is not really up to taking macro shots which is such a shame for i won't be able to show you how beautiful these polishes really are. I tried my hardest but it really is not as pretty as it looks in real life, especially the Panglao Drive. Speaking of which, isn't it cute that Mutya's shade name is unique?! They are names that will remind you of the Philippines! I will definitely be checking more of these polishes.

Speaking of which, my first holo polish Color Club's Fashion Addict is really pretty! I took this pic weeks ago when my nails are still long.

This polish really makes my heart flutter every time i see it sitting on my nail polish storage. Just staring at it makes me happy already! LOL! XD
I miss my long nails.. *sigh*

So, going back, having a professional looking nails is so easy to make with water decals so i bought a couple more...a silver nail art striping tape & a couple of orange sticks.

Water Decal post will be up after a couple of days... cropping & resizing pics takes quite a time, so bear with me ladies.

Then my nail art brush set & rhinestones~!

As you all know, im more of a free hand nail art designer rather than stickers or fimos, so this will allow me to make more designs in the future.

I'm not a fan of 3d nails for i have a habit of hand-combing & twirling my hair every now & then so most often than not rhinestones or anything that protrudes (that includes nail stickers-especially 3d stickers) just doesn't last long enough on me. But then i'll try my best not to twirl my hair all for the sake of pretty-fying my nails. LOL! I'm sure these 3 rhinestone wheels will have enough rhinestones for me to experiment with.

Then when i dropped by Watsons, i saw the Wish Nail Stuff which got these colored stones that are encased in cute glass jars. Again, not a fan of things that protrude on nails but because of it's cuteness it found a way to get in my shopping basket. will try to put it to good use though. I have to! XD

 My nail stuff are really growing slow but sure~!

Then lastly, one of the best gift that i have received was delivered while i was feeling sick & it immediately perked me up!

I had a grand time hanging out with my family & friends for the past couple of days. I am terribly missing my students but since i want to make sure that my throat is in full condition before i start having classes, i'll just be starting this wednesday.

By the way, i made a facebook fan page for my blog. You can see the FB box at the top left part of the screen, you can just "like" it if you want...hehe. I figured that there are some people who don't want to add more 'friends' on their list than necessary so making a fan page is easier to keep track. I won't be updating the fan page for now for i have a couple of things that i needed to do, but i'll have it up & running most likely after a week or two.

Just a little update so that you'll know that i am still alive..haha!
