BFF Challenge:80's nail art

80's nail art chosen by Bec...
whoo hoo!
I haven't done retro, well, except if you'll count my retro dots (which i don't!) so this theme is also challenging as well.

I had spent lots of hours researching what designs i could do but for some reason i can't find any. So i wracked my brains up thinking of 80's related stuff. The things that kept on popping on my mind were Madonna, Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Chaka Khan, etc...
Then i remember that people love disco-ing (is that a word?) to these tunes so it's disco fever days!

Hence i came up with disco balls!

This is an easy nail art but i have to say that it takes a lot of work!
You have to perfectly line the glitters to make sure that they will look like a disco ball.

But this is a very fun nail art!

See?
Look at my thumb & pinkie!
Love holo glitters!

Oh, if you're planning to do this nail art, i used hexagon-shaped glitters. Start at the center,ok? So that everything is all lined up nice & even~

I did it. You can do it too!

It takes a while to finish but believe me when i say that the outcome is ridiculously beautiful!
Pop in your hot pants, fluff out your hair then strut your stuff!
*Kylie Minogue's Lucky playing in the background*
Now time to party!

BFF Challenge:Punk Nail Art

Thursday once more!
Time for the BFF Challenge again. This time, it is hosted by Bec & she chose Punk as our theme.

Honestly, im clueless. This theme is something that i haven't tried before but at the same time it is challenging! Isn't that what this challenge is for? To try things out that we haven't tried before for fun?

This is what i came up with:

Surprisingly, the process of making this design is not difficult!
The only thing that i found difficult is the research. hahaha!
I spend lots of hours researching & looking at pictures/colors related to punks.

I just painted this on my thumb for a twist & also sponged some black afterward for that punk-y feel.
I think punk is not about being neat, the charm about the design is the haphazard way of it!

Hence, the rest of my nails look like so.

I won't do a tutorial anymore because this is quite easy.
I just painted the black base then sponged some white on it (randomly) then added splats. You can click HERE for the splat tutorial. Skulls haphazardly drawn too.

After 15mins, im done with it!
If im not a stickler for details, i could have done this a fraction of the time i spent researching. lol!

Again, im not much into such designs, but for some reason this design is somehow growing on me.

I'm curious about what the girls did wit their punk nail art!

BFF Challenge:Book theme

Another nail art challenge!
Bear with me,girls. I know that i am not able to blog regularly about other things, it's mostly because i have a lot of things on my plate lately. I promise, i'll get back to blogging one of these days. I'm just happy that i joined the BFF challenge. It keeps my blog alive for the meantime.hehe

The theme for now was chosen by Pram. It's all about books.
I have been a bookworm ever since. I love reading! I can't live without books, actually.
I love romance novels~!

I was originally planning to do something by Bertrice Small (seeing as she is one of my favorite author) but the cover of her books are mostly real paintings with beautiful women. Not that i could not do it (but i probably can't.haha!) it's just that it won't look good on short nails & blending colors would take lots of time.
*sigh*
So i just have to give it up.

Next is the 50 shades trilogy since i just finished reading it.
In fact, i already have painted my black base last night. It's just that for some reason when i was already drawing it I can't seem to quite get the colors. You know how i fret about my designs if they do not look like the original image. So out with it.

Since i'm running out of time (it was already 11pm), i knew that i just had to make something easy.
Then i remember Diary of a Wimpy Kid! Now that's more like it! hehehehe!
So, after 15 minutes, im done with it! Here ya go~

I just had to outline them with the color of the cover so that it would at least be about the book & not just the characters.hehehe

Have you read this?
I love it!
The kid in me giggles every time i read Greg's adventure!

Presenting the Heffley family~

Here's the main character~ Greg Heffley

Being a middle schooler is not easy, definitely not!
Greg enters the world of middle school & that's when the fun started for him.

Rodrick~the big brother

Being the eldest kid in the family has its merits... as what Greg keeps on saying.
Clearly Roderick also agrees with him!

Manny ~ the youngest kid

Manny can get away with everything since he is the baby!

Dad ~

Dad loves his civil war figure collection & hates Roderick's friend.
hehehe

Mom~

Mom writes an article in parenting in the local newspaper.
Guess what she mostly writes about?
^_~

I hope i was able to get them well drawn, if not exactly alike at least.

How about you?
What book have you read recently?

I can't wait what my ladies had done with their book nail art.

BFF Challenge:Striping Tape Mani

Another nail art challenge for this week. The theme... Striping Mani!
This theme was chosen by Pram!
I have tried doing a mani using striping tape before. You can take a look HERE and HERE.
But this time,it's a completely different design but still using the tape. Here is my nail art for this challenge.

A Gradient Striping Mani design~
(for nubbin nails!haha!)

Another design exclusive for short nails~ Yay for that!
See? You don't have any excuse for not having chic nails because of the nail length.

It's up to you what colors you'll be using but for this exact design, i choose
pinky - lilac to indigo
ring - baby blue to navy blue
middle - pink to red
pointer - mint green to teal
thumb - gold to bronze (refer to the pic below)

Sorry about the tut pics.
I still haven't got the time to have my cam repaired so the macro shots are a bit awful.
So bear with it. As usual, i used a different color on my tutorial so that you'll be able to clearly see it.

So,here's the process:
1. Apply a neutral base color. The palest color that you can find so to give a good start for your mani. Since this is a nail wheel so i didn't bother applying any.
2. With the lightest color on the shade that you choose apply varnish, make sure that you have enough space (like 1/5) for your 1st tape to be put on. It's ok if you will not paint the whole nail (which will be better)  because you don't have to wait too long for it to dry.
3. Once the 1st layer is dry, time to apply the 2nd color. Again, make sure that you leave a space for the striping tape to go into.
4-5. Repeat the same process until you've used all the shades that you have. See? this one is better for short nails unless you have great shade selection that you can go from the palest shade to the darkest.
6. Cut your tape into strips.
7. Apply the tapes like in the picture.
8. Make sure they are evenly applied.
9. Then cover the whole nail with your choice of polish. Black is the best choice, really. I just decided to use yellow so that it's easier to see because im having camera troubles.hehe
10. As soon as you finish step 9, you immediately take the tapes off. It's harder to take it off once it's dry & it will just ruin the whole look so you have to take the tapes off as soon as you are done with step 9.

Let dry.apply top coat then voila!
You can do this horizontal or vertical or even random. The choice is completely up to you!

I'm sorry about the thumb. I messed it right when i was snapping pictures already.
I plan to do it again but got lazy because the drying time for this mani takes a while.
I got my striping tape from KKCenterhk.com or click HERE.

There you go~
Hope you'll give this one a try!
No acrylics for this,no? hehehe

Next challenge would be about books!
Now, this is challenging because i have a lot of books & choosing just one won't be enough for me.haha!
In fact, im thinking of starting a blog post about books. I think it'll be fun to connect with you, guys, on a different way.

Have a great day, y'all!

BFF Challenge:Girly Nail Art for short nails~

Another nail art for this week from the group challenge.
This theme is something that is very dear to my heart. If you have been following my nail art posts for quite a while you might notice that most of my designs are leaning towards it being girly... mostly pinks, flowers & dots.

I have been prepping up for this theme for a few days now. The main design that i wanted to do is just so difficult for me to hand paint for now. I needed more practice to be able to do it but i will definitely do that design one of these days.

Going back, here are the nail arts that i've done for the girly design~
First one is this...
I rather like this one and yes,i did it with my short nails! I've had lot of people asking me what nail arts can be done with short nails. Every design can be done with short nails,of course!

Here's a close-up look of them one by one...

The design is easy except for the rose,ne?

Hand painted by yours truly

You can do this too! Check the links below for the tutorial.

This is something easy yet adorable!

Too bad the color is washed out but these are laces...hehe

I don't think i need to do a tutorial for this anymore since i've done most of the design.
You can click HERE to see my post about how to do the rose.
You can click HERE to see my post about how to do the heart.
You can click HERE to see my post about how to do the lace.

You can do the dots yourselves,ne?
Hope that you could sport at least one of the designs that i did here.

One more that i forgot to add...
I'll teach you how to make the lace some other time when i can take macro shots once more..hehe

Then another girly design that i did when i still had my faux nails on. This was done a week ago i think...
Just something to jumpstart my girly-ness. hehe

Next BFF Nail Art Challenge would be next Thursday & it;s gonna be a striping tape mani.
I promise that there would be a tutorial by then for you all.

I hope that you'll have a happy Saturday!

BFF Nail Art Challenge:Cartoon/Anime Nail Art

I, together with other fabulous nail bloggers, decided to continue on with a challenge. This time it would be a nail art challenge. I choose the theme cartoon/animes to see what kinds of programs we grew up watching.

Anime Revolution came at its peak here in my country during the 90's. This is why most kids know all the animes that are being aired on that time. You can ask people of my generation (gosh, that sounds so ancient!haha) what animes they watched & you'll be surprised with the common answers that they'll be giving you.

I have watched tons & tons of japanese animes & also cartoons before so choosing just 1 is difficult so i just had to make a couple of them!

Presenting my pick of the lot!lol

thumb - Crayon Shin Chan
pointer - Akazukin Cha Cha
middle - Sailormoon
ring - Doraemon
pinkie - Mojacko

You can just click it for a larger image.

I'll tell you about them one by one... hehehe
Please bear with the rambling of an old 'otaku' lady.

Crayon Shin Chan
I remember watching this anime just because i think the graphics are really cute! It's like fresh air compare with all the animes that are very artfully done that i've been watching.

Shin-chan is a very cute, playful but naughty boy! He loves sexy ladies & showing off his 'elephant'. He calls his mama by his name & would even mimic his dad drinking 'sake' (rice wine). He has a white dog named "Shiro", which literally means white in japanese.

If you want a light-hearted anime that would take the drama off of your usual programs then by all means, go search for "Kureyon Shin Chan".

Akazukin Cha Cha - Red Riding Hood Cha Cha
Cha Cha is an elementary student in Urara Gakuen. She is the student of Seravy-sensei, who is supposed to be the world's greatest magician. Her antics together with her friends are so cute to watch that i consider this a timeless anime!

I clearly remember that i was in !st year high school when this was shown just because it was my first time going over to a friend's house to celebrate her birthday party. She immediately turned the TV on because it's "Cha Cha time" already! LOL!

Sailormoon
This is a given,ne?
Who would ever forget Usagi-chan? In fact, i don't think i need to make an intro about her just because she is really very popular. If Goku of Dragonball is the famous anime male character before, im sure Usagi of Sailormoon is his counter part!

Doraemon
Now, this i think is an anime that is famous in asia. I'm just not sure if the other countries know him though.
Doraemon is a cat-robot given to Nobita by his grandson with the hopes of being able to help him make the best out of him.

One episode is consist of 3 short skits of Doraemon helping Nobita in a situation by the help of a certain gadget that he would be getting from his pocket. Me likes it!

Mojacko
To my pinay readers, i don't need to explain this to them. they know & love Mojacko by heart,ne? Mojacko was also made by the author of Doraemon, Fujiko Fujio.

Mojacko is an 'alien' from the Planet Moja in search of the hidden treasure! I didn't know that GMA aired this just recently, if i only knew i would still watch it!haha!

Well, there ya go!
I'll have another nail art to show you this Saturday. This nail art challenge that we've cooked up will be up every Thursdays & Saturdays for 12 weeks. So you can expect more nail arts & tutorials too.

I just can't make any tutorial for this nail art because this is obviously hand-painted & didn't follow any procedures at all.

I hope that you'll have a lucky day!

Ebalay Nail Polish in 007

Another Ebalay Polish for you to drool at!
LOL!

I've been mentioning for a long time how i love the Ebalay Polishes, now i'm gonna present another one, this time it's in 007.

Just look at the color change happening right there & then!
You can clearly see the duochrome effect this polish has when layered over a black polish.

Here is a zoomed in version of it....
Pretty!

Now i'm gonna show you the awesomeness of duochrome polishes once it's under the water.

Now tell me if that doesn't look gorgeous or not?!
I mentioned before that i had tried using Ebalay when i frankened my midnight holo polishes. You can check here HERE. So i'm gonna try frankening with this some day too.

You can get this at KKCenterhk.com or go straight to this LINK. You can use the code BLGA124TH10 for a 10% off.

Weekend Affair~

It's been a while since i did something fun...
I have been cooped up in my room for a long time just working that i have been so stressed out. This weekend i was able to go all out & do some shopping. Retail Therapy at its finest! hahaha!

Nah,i'll not do a haul post today but just to do some heads up for the things that made me giddy. First up is when i get to meet a very dear friend & blog reader last Saturday. I went to the Hero Face-off event just to see Angel.

We've been talking for like time immortal so i was so looking forward for the meet-up. She cosplayed as Enma Ai of Jigoku Shoujo. She looks beautiful,no?

I'm so glad that u was able to meet you, sweetie!
Hope we could meet up again.

Last Friday, i dropped by Shiseido to get my Summer Skincare Set...

I was able to get the prize that i got from StrawberryNET too!

Tsk!
I need to have my camera checked & cleaned already so pardon me for those specks of dirt. I don't have a freakin' idea how it came to be this dirty since it's always on my bag.

Another thing that made me really happy was because i was able to purchase a book from one of my favorite authors! It was so good i finished it for less than a day! If you love romance novels, you have to check out Bertrice Small!

Why is it so hard to look for books from her& Kathleen Woodiwiss here in the Philippines?
That's another thing that most of you don't know about me. I do love to read Romance Novels so much that i am really running out of space already. That's the reason why i am already thinking of purchasing Kindle.

Haha!
Maybe you're thinking "no polishes?"... lol!
I'll be posting polishes & nail arts for the next couple of weeks so just for now i'll keep this post polish-free!

Have a great week,ladies!

Franken Polish:my midnight holo polishes

Just a short post...
I have been receiving countless of questions about how i made my midnight fantasy. I'll be sharing my formula for my very own franken...

Kireii ,de sho?
Everyone loves holo polishes!hehe

Just look at that holographic goodness!

Anyway, enough about those pics & let's go to the real deal.

Orly Space Cadet + BSJ Polish (OMG!im sorry but i don't know the shade because it doesn't have a sticker). They should be added with the same equal amount. I kept on adding both polishes even though it looks like Space Cadet doesn't have much.

I know it's difficult to get your hands on these 2 polishes but you can make my Midnight Tryst. The only difference is that Fantasy is almost golden while Tryst is just a couple of shades darker but they are both gorgeous! These are my to-go polishes!

I used Ebalay 009 as my base & i just added spectraflair on it! You can purchase Ebalay HERE.
This is how the base looks like with black polish underneath.

You can just add a couple drops of black polishes on the bottle to achieve that almost-space-cadet look.
Swatch as you add black polish so that you won't over do it, then add spectraflair!

You can buy Spectraflair from Lori over on Facebook.
I'll talk about Spectraflair on my next post so keep tuned,ok?

Have a great day,hunnies!

Believe in B.liv's Dump Off Drawn! I do!

I was contacted by B.liv weeks ago to try out their products. I have been so lazy in applying any skin care products lately that I can alrea...
